My dog training is working! I successfully taught Gehry his first new command, “Lay down.” He kinda learned “Sit” right away, cause he was naturally sitting down when he was waiting for a treat anyway, just in that cute “I’m a puppy waiting for my treat” kind of way, so I don’t count that.
I’ve been working on “lay down” for a couple weeks now. I’d tell him to sit while holding up a treat, then tell him to lay down. In order for him to lay down I had to hold his back half down and put the treat on the floor in front of him so he had to lay down to get it. This didn’t seem to be getting any easier for him, and he’s always so hyper and impatient, so I didn’t think he was really learning it, but today he suddenly started doing it on his own! Such a smart puppy! I’m such a proud puppy mommy now! Its like watching a child grow!

And so does the local news! Check out the segment they made about us. It includes the beautiful building I get to work in, my coworkers, my boss (Jackie), and some of our students. I managed not to get in any of the shots they used, but I was in the room when they show kids swinging and crawling on mats and stuff.

Wow. We’ve had an intensely exciting and suspenseful week here at TH corporate headquarters.
Our house hunt went from cautionary to aggressively hopeful. Last Friday we viewed a couple houses for sale one neighborhood over from our apartment, an area we really love but never thought we’d be able to afford. One of those really felt like a good home for us on the inside, and it was on our mind all weekend during the Bottomley Picnic and Moyle Mingle camping gathering. Friday marked the three month countdown to the wedding. With the cake arrangements just about crossed off the list, it feels like we are making progress in the preparations, but I feel like there must be a lot of little things we are overlooking that are about to sneak up and overwhelm us.
First things first, I turned 26! Yeah, it was two weekends ago, so I’m a little behind. We (meaning teams Hamlett and Oliver) celebrated by riding some roller coasters and waterslides at Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells. Aside from the lines being too long and the water being too cold, we had a pretty good time. We completed the trip by stopping at the outlet mall and then had a delicious dinner at Macaroni Grill (where we were also joined by Sundlings).
Welcome to our new blog! Everyone knows I’m terrible at keeping blogs updated, but I’m giving it yet another try.
The big news for me, as most of you know, is that I graduated with my masters degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. I’d like to thank everyone who was able to be part of my graduation weekend. It was awesome to see so many family members willing to make the trip, and I had a really great time. Now I am working on shaking off the post-grad laziness and maybe even eventually putting my degree to use.
